To mark the 10th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks on New York and Washington, D.C., several local fire departments are joining forces to remember those lost a decade ago in the terror attacks.
On Sunday, a Firematic Memorial Service will be held at in Sayville at 1:30 p.m. The service is open to the community.
Locally, West Sayville, Sayville and Bayport Fire Departments lost three members who responded to the scene of the attacks at the World Trade Center. Those members were Lincoln Quappe, Sayville FD-FDNY; Glen Pettit, West Sayville FD/NYPD; and Glenn Wilkinson-Bayport FD/FDNY.
