Kindergartners Get Fire Safety Lesson From Sayville FD

Sunrise Drive Elementary students learn about safety and have fun during fire department visit.

Sunrise Drive Elementary Kindergarten students won’t soon forget their visit from the Sayville Fire Department during Fire Prevention Month. To reinforce the children’s classroom lessons, the Sayville firefighters gave a presentation that began with questions and answers about fire prevention and safety. Their discussion was followed by various outside activities for the lindergarten students.

The outdoor instruction gave each Sayville student a chance to sit on a fire truck and learn about all the fire truck equipment. They also explored the Safety House, where the firefighters taught the children more about what to do in case of a fire as well as how to prevent fires.  The kindergarteners even had the chance to hold and use the fire hose.

“The kids had a lot of fun and learned great safety tips,” lindergarten teacher Andrea Nocito explained,  “Thank you, Sayville Fire Department!”
