Crimes Nearby: Arrest in Home Depot Bomb Threat

A look at recent crime nearby.

Deer Park-North Babylon

A Deer Park man was arrested Wednesday night for allegedly planting a bomb at a Home Depot in Huntington, where he worked, last month. Federal officials said that Daniel Sheehan, 50, planted the explosive device as part of a bigger $2 million extortion plot, in which he also threatened to place three other bombs at other stores.

Now "old" political "in-the-ground" placards need removal by the politicians' advertising crew! We don't have to live with them! After the elections they just become litter!

@Marlene Sabba: what is it REMOTELY to do with the reporters at the various Patches to 'have' politicians do ANYTHING? I fail to grasp your reasoning. Isn't removing those placards the responsibility first of those who installed them and second--garbage disposal? I'm not remotely averse to having people billed for such removal if it long overstays its welcome, but isn't there a reasonable amount of time a campaign is given before having to do this? Why in THIS campaign is there such a rush, pray tell? You wrote this 5 days after the election--seemingly oblivious to the reality that Long Island was just hit by a 'Frankenstorm' with people in some areas out of power for 9 days or even longer! Just perhaps some of those very people you expect to be out picking up placards which so offend you are actually freezing at night without heat or hot water in their own homes and working ridiculous hours helping their neighbours get back to normal while still cutting up and hauling away debris and downed trees instead? Take a deep breath. Relax. It'll be done soon enough. If not and you're still so offended after say, a month goes by, then call the local campaign headquarters--take some responsibility of your own and demand that it be done if they're still 'littering' your property. I would suggest you simply pick them up yourself, but then, that's what I'D do if they really bothered me that much and seems too simple a solution for someone quite this het up.

Wow! Unless you were directly responsible for those signs, I hope your harangue made you feel better about whatever it really was that was bothering you - which you chose to take out on me. For your information (why I am even bothering to respond, is a mystery to me - something must be 'pissing' me off as well...) both Randy Altcheuler and Tim Bishop both responded by email almost immediately to tell me that they will be taken down immediately - which they were. So, thank you, PATCH for relaying my message - and getting me such a timely, positive response! As for the person who had nothing to do but respond to me (who probably had power and was just bored...) my neighborhood never lost power - and some of those signs remain for months! They are gone now, so you can vent on someone else ... enjoy yourself!
