A Sayville School District custodian is due back in Suffolk County Court on March 6 after pleading not guilty to a charge of allegedly possessing child pornography.
Shawn Mead, 44, a custodian at Lincoln Avenue Elementary, is out on $5,000 cash bail after being arrested last August and indicted on September 6, 2012 for possession of a sexual performance by a child. The charge is a class E felony punishable with a maximum sentence of four years in jail.
A motion to dismiss the charge by the Patchogue resident’s attorney, Christian Aaron Pickney, on January 20, 2013 was denied by County Court Judge Barbara Kahn.
The arrest, according to police, came after the unit conducted an undercover investigation into individuals trading child pornography online.
