Court Date Set for Sayville Couple Charged in Booze Party Incident

John and Stacie Butler are due in court in May on reckless endangerment charges.

The Sayville couple charged with endangering the welfare of a minor who suffered alcohol poisoning during a party on the couple's property on Old Broadway Avenue are due in Suffolk First District Court on May 22.

John and Stacie Butler, both 54, were arrested in the early hours of March 24 and issued a desk appearance ticket and released on their own recognizance after a 16-year-old girl suffered alcohol poisoning while at the party. Police stated they found evidence of a beer drinking game, shot glasses and more than two dozen underage teens in an apartment on the property where the party was being held.

The teen was taken to Brookhaven Memorial Hospital for treatment. The Butlers are facing one misdemeanor charge each.

According to police, the couple’s 16-year-old daughter had invited friends to the home after an event held at St. Anthony’s High School.
