Community Ambulance Company Receives Honor

Awarded Suffolk County EMS Agency of the Year; volunteers needed.

Community Ambulance Company (CAC), servicing Bayport, Bohemia, Oakdale, Sayville and West Sayville, has been awarded Suffolk County EMS Agency of the Year.

Youth Squad member Kelly O’Sullivan was awarded the "Youth Provider of the Year" Award for the county and state.  Dr. Brian Blaustein was the recipient of the "Physician of Excellence Award" as the Medical Director for Community Ambulance Company and ER Physician at North Shore LIJ Southside Hospital.

Community Ambulance is the first ambulance company in the Town of Islip to add special medications for pain management, seizures and trauma patients.

Community Ambulance Company added special medications to save the lives of firemen or victims of smoke inhalation due to a fire.

CAC purchased a fifth ambulance to meet the increasing call volume of 4,331 calls for help in 2010. They also created a program in Suffolk County to place AED's throughout our Main Street inside restaurants, stores and gyms.

Community Ambulance created a robust and highly regarded continuing medical education, community CPR and First Aid training program.
