Car Vandals Hit Bayport Streets

Several cars were broken into Monday night on two Bayport streets and the incidents are under investigation by the Suffolk County Fifth Precinct.

According to police, three residents, two on McConnell Avenue and one on Locust Avenue, reported items stolen from cars sometime late Monday night.

Patch has heard from several residents that the car vandals have hit many more vehicles than officially reported by residents, possibly nearly a dozen between the two streets, as well as cars on Handsome Avenue in Sayville.

One resident told Patch a neighbor's wallet was taken from a vehicle, and several car trunks were rummaged through by vandals.

Anyone wishing to report a car break-in or stolen items is being asked to call 911.
