Bayport Man Facing DWI Charge in Sayville House Crash

Cory Schaetzler is due back in court Nov. 22.

A Bayport man arrested early Saturday morning after his car veered off Broadway Avenue in Sayville and clipped a house is facing a DWI charge and was released on his own recognizance Sunday, according to a state crime database.

Cory Schaetzler, 33, was arraigned Sunday at First District Court and is due back in court on November 22.

Suffolk Police say Schaetzler's 2010 Chevy Malibu was southbound on Broadway Avenue when it went off the road, hit an electrical pole and grazed a residence about 3:15 a.m. 

No one in the home was hurt in the accident and Schaetzler was taken to Southside Hospital for minor injuries. 

An initial police report stated Schaetzler was allegedly under the influence of drugs at the time of the accident.
