Bayport Fire Department to Hold 5k Race and Children's Fun Run

FD officials hopeful of holding event annually.

Hundreds are expected to participate in the 2010 Bayport Fire Department 5k Race and Kids Fun Run on Saturday, Sept. 18.

This event was inspired by the department's participation in another fire department's 5k run last year. Through that run, Bayport firefighters raised money for a project involving the revamping of dedicated street signs. Department Chief Glen Baillargeon has stated he hopes to make his department's event an annual occurrence.

The run, which consists of a 3.1 miles course through Bayport, begins at 9 a.m. (rain or shine), with the Fun Run beginning at 8:30 a.m.
