Does anyone know why the man in the wheelchair without a shirt on at the intersection of Nichols Road and Montauk highway is allowed to be there everyday and why nothing has been done about it? I have seen mulitple near misses of him getting hit by cars, especially at night, he just rolls out into the street and screams and yells at cars on a daily basis.

Patch has seen him as well and we have reached out to SCPD to see what we can find out.

Didn't ya'll see the "profile" of him in the BBP Gazette? It made him seem like an upstanding member of the community who is performing a wonderful service to us all.

Wheelchair man is trouble. But at least he's not out "walking the streets"
Judy Mottl October 10, 2012 at 08:11 PM
According to SCPD the Fifth Precinct is aware of the wheelchair man and said this in an email response to Patch regarding concerns expressed above in the comments: "We will not permit him to put himself or others in danger and police will take action to prevent him from being a danger to himself or others."
