Attempted Robbery at West Sayville Bank

Police are asking for information to help identify the suspect.

Suffolk County Police are investigating an attempted bank robbery in West Sayville on Monday in which the perpetrator fled on foot after a bank teller did not comply with his demands for money.

Police said a man entered the Chase Bank branch at 90 Main St. at 1:15 p.m. and handed the teller a note demanding cash and indicating he was armed. An apparently scared teller did not comply with the man's demands and he took back the note and fled on foot in an unknown direction, police said.

The man is described as white, approximately 6-foot-1, in his mid-to-late 40s with a medium build. He was wearing a brown, checkered flannel jacket, with a white shirt underneath, a dark colored baseball hat and dark sunglasses. He was unshaven and had a Band-Aid near his left eye.
