Armed Robbery at W. Sayville Ice Parlor

Suffolk Police make arrest after Poppa Mia's is held up Tuesday evening.

Suffolk Police have arrested and charged an undomiciled male for robbing Poppa Mia’s Italian Ice House, on Montauk Highway in West Sayville at about 9 p.m. Tuesday night.

According to a police report, a masked man knocked on the rear door of the parlor and threatened two female employees with a knife and demanded cash. After the employees handed over the cash, police say the man fled on foot.

Fifth Precinct Crime Section officers Donald Britton and Tracy Barry stopped a suspicious vehicle in the area, according to police, and determined that one of the subjects in the vehicle committed the robbery. The mask and a portion of the proceeds were recovered, said police.
