A Guide to Memorial Day Parades

Monday is Memorial Day and it's chockfull of local parades. Here's a guide to when and where so you don't miss the event.

Sayville:

The 146th parade kicks off at 9 a.m. at Handsome Avenue and Main Street.It will proceed east on Main Street to Foster Avenue, south to Middle Road and west to Sparrow Park where services honoring the military will be held. Sayville High School and Middle School Band members will also entertain parade-goers as they march down Main Street while performing their music Following the parade, a memorial service honoring veterans will be held at Sparrow Park, and the Sayville Fire Department will then hold its own memorial service honoring departed members on the front lawn of its headquarters.

Bayport:

The Bayport parade starts at 11 am at Connetquot Ave and Middle Road and concludes at the memorial park just west of Bayport Avenue. Spectators can gather along Middle Road; the marching route will take parade participants from Connetquot Road to Bayport Memorial Park, where local fire departments will conduct a ceremony to honor those who served in the armed forces. No stranger to keeping up traditions, Bayport Fire Department has sponsored the parade since the end of World War II.

Blue Point:
The parade kicks off at 11:00 am from the intersection of Blue Point Avenue and Middle Road and goes north on Blue Point Avenue to the firehouse.
