2 Sayville Firefighters Injured Fighting House Blaze

Injuries were non-life threatening and fire was under control within an hour.

Two Sayville Fire Department firefighters suffered non-life threatening injuries battling a home blaze Thursday night on Railroad Avenue.

A fire was reported at 246 Railroad Avenue just before 9 p.m. and two volunteer firefighters suffered minor injuries in getting the blaze under control and were taken to Southside Hospital, according to fire department leaders.

No one was at the home at the time of the fire, according to the fire department.

There was a full fire engaged on the first floor, between the kitchen and living room areas, with heavy smoke and fire damage, according to Sayville FD Chief Tom Pantano. The blaze was under control by 10 p.m., according to the fire department.
