Voting school budgets down

To all the people who voted "No" on their school budget yesterday........Where do I start?.....Oh! I know!.....Shame on you! Let me ask you this....How many of you wrote letters or made phone calls to your politicians encouraging positive change?; forcing them to stop putting the entire burden on school districts by eliminating the Gap Elimination Adjustment and the ridiculous number of unfunded mandates they place on the school districts every year? How many of you attended a rally to have your voice heard or tried to raise money to help your districts? Don't tell me you don't have the time. Don't tell me you don't know how. Admit that you've been lazy and the quickest way for you to convince yourselves that your making change is to cast one vote. The fact is real change does not come from voting down budgets, it comes from making change at the top that trickles down. It comes from a unified message to New York State that tells our politicians that we are not naive enough to believe that keeping the GEA and unfunded mandates will benefit us in any way. Cuomo doesn't care that you voted down your school budget; in fact, he probably welcomes it. You continue to blame the schools while his campaign supporters make millions. Keep telling yourselves that voting down a budget will bring change, and I will tell you.....you just hurt our children. Shame on you.
