School Budget

The proposed Bayport Blue Point school budget appears on paper to be a thoroughly thought out budget, and finally offers additional bussing to students.  However  the details tell another story.  Bussing is being increased for Elementary students only, and will now be available for anyone who travels a minimum of 1.5 miles instead of 2 miles.  Middle and High School student limits remain the same.  What is the board's argument here?  The change will cost an additional $1.1 million dollars and help few people.  If you can't offer bussing across the district and help the majority of parents, drop the increased bussing.  The budget increase this year is $1.1 million, the exact same amount as the increased bussing will cost.  Leave the budget with a 0% increase or find a way to help out the majority of residents.  For this reason I will be voting "No" on May 20th.
