Keep An Eye on Your Food Portion Sizes

Do you have "Portion Distortion"?

Have you ever gone to a restaurant, ordered a dish off the menu, and when it comes the meal looks like you could feed your whole family or at least have left overs for two days? But do you take it home? Some people might but for most people we end up eating the whole meal.

No wonder we are an obese society! Restaurants/Fast food chains/costco all have us eating super size portions that are confusing us about what a serving size really looks like. I'm going to make this simple. If you go out to eat, once that plate gets on your table cut your meal in half and ask your waitress for a doggie bag. Please!

cheese= 1 ounce 6 dice (equivalent to 1 cup of milk) 2 ounces = 8 dice

meat= size of 1 deck of cards / or palm of hand

1 cup=1 baseball/or two hands cupped

1tsp. tip of thumb 1tbsp.= 3 thumb tips
