Rita's Real Foods, on Middle Road in Bayport, doesn't just offer great food and products.
Every year it also boasts hand-made mittens for sale, made by owner Rita Palma.
These 100 percent wool mittens- cashmere, alpaca, boiled wool and more- are crafted from re-purposed sweaters, washed and all shrunk up. The tight weave makes them the warmest things for a walk with the dog or a chilly football game.
Antique buttons, beads and baubles embellish them. The buttons come from a collection Palma's mother created years ago.
They make for the perfect gift and there is no way anyone on the shopping list has pair quite like them.
The price is $27.50 a pair, or two for $50.00.
