My name is Minx McCloud. My school friends knew me as "Minx (Maralyn) Rebman, and I lived on Kensington Avenue in Bayport before moving to Bayport Avenue with my parents in 1955. Sometimes I sit here in New Jersey, where I have lived for 22 years with my husband and a number of cats, and I think about how life was in Bayport. Those were good years, when no less than 10 people on Bayport Avenue had horses in their back yards. It was more rural than suburban, with acres of open space to ride horses and bicycles. At night, you could hear the clop-clop of horses' hooves as we took to the streets for an after-dinner ride. I went on to graduate from college and become a journalist, and for 17 years, I had a column in 28 local newspapers in NJ. I still do freelance writing and some public relations work. Life is good here in NJ, but I miss those early years in B-BP. They made me what I am today, and the many friends I made are still with me on Facebook or in my heart.
