The Green Patch: Broohaven Offers Up Recycling Comparison Map

Find out how your school district fares in going green compared to others in the town.

Throughout February and March Patch will be publishing articles about ‘green’ topics, issues and news. We’re looking for reader tips and advice as well, so if you’ve got a great green strategy going on or a good tip on how to handle recycling or how you re-use something email it to judy.mottl@patch.com and share your knowledge with the Patch community.

Today Patch offers a way for school district residents living in Brookhaven Town to find out just how good they are at recycling compared to the other school districts, and it’s all thanks to Broohaven’s unique map feature.

For example, the Brookhaven portion of the Bayport-Blue Point school district recycled more in 2010 and 2011 than the average of the other 35 garbage districts in the town, with 12.7 percent and 13.6 percents respectively compared to 11.4 percent and 11.9 percent.

But this year the B-BP district isn’t faring as well. In the third quarter of 2012 it’s about one percent behind the average recycling percentage of the 35 other garbage districts.
