Sayville Food Pantry Issues Donation Call as Holidays Approach

Food drive kicks off Nov. 30 but donations welcome any time.

There is a growing number of residents needing help from the Greater Sayville Food Pantry and that number doubles during the holiday season, according to organizers who are hoping the communities between West Sayville and Blue Point will donate to its impending food drive effort.

The food pantry, which is located at 47 Gillette Avenue in Sayville accepts donations year round, and each year more people need assistance. They include working poor who can’t seem to catch up on their bills, senior citizens on fixed incomes, and single parents who live from paycheck to paycheck.

The pantry will be sponsoring its annual food drive during this year’s annual Holiday Parade, sponsored by the Greater Sayville Chamber of Commerce, which will kick off on Sat., Nov. 30 at 9:15 am on Main Street.

The pantry's "Shopping Cart Elves" will be collecting donations along the parade route so parade watchers are encouraged to bring non-perishable donations to this year’s parade.

If you can't make the parade, you can drop off food donations at the pantry. Call (631) 244-8375 to find out pantry hours.
