Sayville Family Run/Walk Aims to Make Holidays Happier for Needy

Exercise event will collect toys for needy children. Bring the entire family out.

On Sunday, Nov. 24 Walk to Run Fitness in Sayville will host a Walk to Run Fitness event at Grange Park to benefit local families and make Christmas extra special for children in need.

Walk To Run Fitness owner Kiersten Bartolotta is asking everyone participating in the event to bring new unwrapped toys for a child or teen. They will given to a family who is in need financially during the holiday season. The Sayville Fire Department will be on hand to collect the toys for distribution. 

The cost of the race is $4 per person. The first 100 people to register will get five glowing bracelets to wear with their race bib. There will be prizes for participants that are the brightest and most reflective so make sure you get some extra glowing gear to wear.

Here are the details:
When: Sunday, Nov. 24 4pm check in (race will begin sharply at 4:30 p.m.)
Where: Grange Park in Sayville located on Broadway Avenue, (please  park in the designated parking lot north of the park and walk south to the event)
Why: To help families in need during the holiday season. 
How: Families who want to participate in the walk/run should bring unwrapped toys for a child or teen. These toys will be given to the Sayville Fire Dept. for distribution to families. This will not be a timed race. The course will be four laps through the Grange park grounds at sunset. Race is open to adults and children five years old and older. All children must be accompanies by an adult at all time, including the walk/run event.
