GoFundMe Effort Aims to Help Blue Point Family

Fundraising effort is focused on a family whose home went on fire Christmas Eve.

A GoFundMe campaign to help out a Blue Point family that lost its home in an electrical fire on Christmas Eve is nearly halfway to its goal of raising $5,000.

No one was hurt in the blaze on Eatondale Avenue, which was extinguished by over 50 volunteer firefighters from several local fire departments. But it left Eddie Rivera's sister and children needing clothes and other necessary items.

In a post explaining the need for the campaign, Rivera writes the following:

To those whom know my family and I know that we are all humble, good, and loving people and never ask for anything from anyone until now. unfortunately, my sisters house caught fire due to an electrical issue. Thank god my niece woke up in the middle of the night to alarm the rest of the family. I'm asking for friends and family to donate whatever they can to help my sister, nephew, and nieces out. God is always good and I know he is with them and giving my sister the strength to keep it together. After all she is the strongest woman I know. In closing, I ask that you all keep my family In your prayers and remember that this can happen to any family. Thank you all...

Currently 2,000 has been raised toward the ultimate goal of $5,000. Donations by 37 supporters have been made.
