Blood Drive for Firefighter Robert Weidmann

On Monday, December 19, 2011, a horrible event took place. While searching the top floor of a Brooklyn brownstone in flames, two members of Rescue 2 Firefighter James Gersbeck and Firefighter Robert Weidmann from Islip became trapped.  F.F Gersbeck was burned and removed from the interior, while F.F. Weidmann was engulfed in an inferno as he was making his way to the front windows.

Firefighter Robert Weidmann suffered 2nd and 3rd degree burns over 54% of his body. He faces numerous skin grafts and operations. His wife Cathy, son Ryan and daughter Erin have been making the trip from Long Island into Manhattan to be at his side. Rob faces many more procedures and surgeries and still remains in critical condition.

In support of Rob, there will be: A special Blood Drive ~ Friday, January 13, 2012 10:00 am ~ 8:00 pm Islip Fire Department, 28 Monell Avenue, Islip and a fundraiser ~ A Night Out in Islip Saturday, January 14, 2012 9:00 pm ~ 1:00 am At these participating establishments: Lily Flanagan's, Maxwells and Port Royal On Main Street in Islip
