Long Island Lighthouses: Past and Present lecture

Bob Müller will be giving a presentation covering the history of Long Island's lighthouses from the colonial period to the present. Based on his 2004 book, he will cover more than 20 light stations in Brooklyn, Queens, Nassau, and Suffolk counties. He will share stories of lighthouse keepers and their families, shipwrecks, lighthouse engineering, lamps and lenses, American lighthouse administration, folklore, and a few important historic figures with ties to local lighthouses. He will show images going as far back as 1879 (maybe a little further). And he will stick around afterward to answer any questions. Free.
