St. Joseph's College Habitat for Humanity club is having their semi-annual Garage Sale on Saturday, November 10th from 9am to 3pm. The sale location has been changes and WILL be located in the Quad at St. Joseph's College. The quad an outdoor grassy area located in the middle of campus. Please park in the lot on Audobon Avenue. We will do our best to put out signs to direct people where to go. All proceeds go towards the club's Alternative Spring Break trip where the students travel to another state and help build houses for less fortunate families. This past spring break the students travelled to California to help build two houses for single mothers and the trip was extremely successful. But this would not have been possible without all of the generous donations from past garage sales and the support of both St. Joseph's College and the community. For our spring break trip for 2013 will have made the decision to stay on Long Island to help aid victims of Hurricane Sandy. We really hope to see you there!! If you are interested in donating items to the sale or if you have any questions, please email the club's moderator Bryan Gill at bgill@sjcny.edu or the club's president Jill Hamill at jhamill@student.sjcny.edu

And so the taxpayer is once again asked to give more to an already out of control and bloatedRead More system. Every year the school districts on Long Island receive increases of millions of dollars to their budgets, and still they want to bleed the taxpayer for more. As two income families struggle to pay exorbitant tax bills, we’re asked to pay even more? We’ll here’s a novel idea, how about if the teachers union’s began demanding less? This early retirement baloney must stop, salaries should be capped, administrators and their staffs must be cut by at least eighty percent. In addition, educators and staff should have to pay for their own medical and retirement plans just as the rest of us must. Here on Long Island, families are suffering and sacrificing, and many are being forced to leave due to taxes which are out of control. It is time for educators to cease hiding behind children with threats of decreased student programs, and to make an honest and realistic observation as to why things are as bad as they are. To blame parents for not paying enough into the system to support the schools is ludicrous. The real problem lies in a system which is self serving, and run by incompetents blind to the harm they are inflicting upon our children and families.

It's a drive-through bank.

I heard it was a bank some time ago, but I can't imagine which bank would run a construction projectRead More so poorly.
