Due to the recent effects caused by Hurricane Sandy, the Sayville restaurant La Tavola are adopting and helping two local Sayville families in their recovery from the super storm that hit in late October.

The fourth annual fundraiser will be held on Wednesday, December 19, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Funds raised will be used to purchase food, clothing, and basic necessities for the families.

"Every dollar goes a long way. We know everyone is tight with money, especially around this time of year, but we hope you can join us in our efforts to assist these families in rebuilding their lives during this difficult time," states a release on the event.

Minimum donation is $5 which will give attendees access to La Tavola Happy Hour drink specials including half price on wine and beer, call drinks and $2 off top shelf and specialty drinks.

"Please come down, have a holiday drink, and help these families rebuild their lives. There will be plenty of raffles and a 50/50," states the release.

And so the taxpayer is once again asked to give more to an already out of control and bloatedRead More system. Every year the school districts on Long Island receive increases of millions of dollars to their budgets, and still they want to bleed the taxpayer for more. As two income families struggle to pay exorbitant tax bills, we’re asked to pay even more? We’ll here’s a novel idea, how about if the teachers union’s began demanding less? This early retirement baloney must stop, salaries should be capped, administrators and their staffs must be cut by at least eighty percent. In addition, educators and staff should have to pay for their own medical and retirement plans just as the rest of us must. Here on Long Island, families are suffering and sacrificing, and many are being forced to leave due to taxes which are out of control. It is time for educators to cease hiding behind children with threats of decreased student programs, and to make an honest and realistic observation as to why things are as bad as they are. To blame parents for not paying enough into the system to support the schools is ludicrous. The real problem lies in a system which is self serving, and run by incompetents blind to the harm they are inflicting upon our children and families.

It's a drive-through bank.

I heard it was a bank some time ago, but I can't imagine which bank would run a construction projectRead More so poorly.
