Who's Who of Sayville

Q&A with Kiersten Bartolotta, founder of Walk To Run Fitness.

Patch recently caught up with Kiersten Bartolotta, founder of the Walk To Run Fitness program in Sayville. Kiersten’s business trains people to reach their fitness goals through daily walk/run workout routines.  Kiersten is committed to helping people find their way to a healthy life-style through goal setting, regular exercise and healthy eating.

What is your connection to Sayville?

I have so many connections to Sayville through my children, my volunteer work and through my business. When my husband and I bought our first house here 11 years ago, we only knew two people in the whole town. Now we have developed lasting relationships with many Sayville families, schoolteachers and business owners in the community. Our connections continue to grow and we feel we will stay in Sayville for a very long time.

What do you love about Sayville?

As a mom, I love the sense of community Sayville has. I enjoy all the family events each weekend like Family Fridays, the Sayville Summerfest, Miracle on Main Street and all the celebratory parades my children march in during the year. As a runner, I love to run on our quiet streets with the beautiful views of the bay and historic houses. I also love that Sayville has many 5K charity walk/runs each weekend, which allows our residents an opportunity to get fit as well as help raise money for good causes and people in need in the Sayville community.

What is unique about your business in Sayville?

Through my business, Walk To Run Fitness, I train participants to run their first 5K charity race within 12 weeks by a slow progression of walking and running workouts. I meet with my clients on the streets of Sayville each week and guide them to set and accomplish their fitness goals one day at a time. My clients are so inspiring and running this business in Sayville has been a very rewarding experience.

In 10 years, where do you think Sayville will be?

I believe Sayville will continue to be a wonderful place to raise children, with good schools and friendly families. I am hopeful that our town will remain a place where businesses can grow but still have that small town warmth and charm.
