Weekend Happenings: Food Drives, Fish Store Opening, Restaurant Week

Here is a list of numerous events scheduled for Friday, Saturday and Sunday right in Bayport, Blue Point and the surrounding area.

It's a great weekend for foodies, with Le Soir and Restaurant Blue participating in Long Island Restaurant Week, special grand opening deals at The Fish Store and the Boy Scout Troop 329 Spaghetti Dinner. There are numerous other events slated for this weekend. Browse through our list.

  •  happy hour starts at 3 p.m. and ends at 7 p.m. Then stick around for live music by Ed Travers band, who will kick off their set at 7:30 p.m.
  • Blue Restaurant's Friday happy hour features half-priced drinks beginning at 4 p.m., with a DJ starting up at 5 p.m. On Saturday at Blue, a "Top 40" DJ sets up at 9:30 p.m. for Ladies Night.
  • Enjoy the music of the Frank Anthony Jazz Ensemble at Bliss2 in Blue Point. The ensemble performs from 8 p.m. to 12 a.m. every Friday
  • This weekend in Phantoms Varsity sports: The Phantoms football team kicks off gridiron playoffs on Saturday- Contest vs. Port Jefferson a rematch of season opener when Bayport-Blue Point topped the Royals 48-0.
  • Have extra food in your garage or pantry? Donate your canned or packaged food at . The business is holding their fifth annual food drive for the Sheppards I.I.I. Soup kitchen in Ronkonkoma. In the past, they donated the goods to L.I. Harvest, Sayville Soup Pantry and Lighthouse Mission.  This year we will be donating our fund to the Sheppards Soup Kitchen at St. Joseph's in Ronkonkoma . They prepare dinners  every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday so all  contributions are needed. 
  • The  are holding their . Head to the Blue Point location and see the homemade crafts and delicious baked goods.  There are raffle prizes and more. All proceeds support the Ursuline Sisters of Tildonk.
  • Go check out what's on exhibit at the  for the month of November.
  • Boy Scout Troop 329 is holding their annual Spaghetti Dinner at  on Saturday evening, 4 p.m. Tickets are $8 per person (3 and under are free)  The Taste of Italy is the best deal in town. Includes salad, spaghetti and meatballs, bread, dessert, coffee, tea and soft drinks. 
  • Saturday at 10 a.m. marks the second Beginning Yoga class offered in a series of six classes, beginning in October ending in December, at . 
  •  celebrates its grand re-opening, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 1 p.m. on Saturday and specials all weekend long- and beyond. Check Patch next week for pictures of the event and an article about the renovation project.
  • Sachem High School North will host the Fallen Heroes Memorial 5K trail run/walk Nov. 7 to raise money for the school's 9/11 monument to be unveiled completely on the 10th anniversary of the tragic events. For complete information on the run, , which has registration PDFs.
  • Long Island Restaurant Week begins this Sunday, and local eateries, Restaurant Blue and Le Soir are participating with special menus and prices.
