Weekend Happenings: Experience Local History Through Festive Events

Two prominent local organizations are ringing in the season with festive events this weekend. The Bayport Heritage Association is holding A 1910 Christmas at the Meadow Croft, and Bayport-based American Dance Theatre of Long Island also provides spectators with a night of entertainment through their annual production, Clara's Dream, at The Patchogue Theater. •  happy hour starts at 3 p.m. and ends at 7 p.m. Live music by Popparazzi begins at 8 p.m.

• Blue Restaurant's Friday happy hour features half-priced drinks beginning at 4 p.m., with a DJ starting up at 5 p.m. On Saturday at Blue, a "Top 40" DJ sets up at 9:30 p.m. for Ladies Night.

• Enjoy the music of the Frank Anthony Jazz Ensemble at Bliss2 in Blue Point. The ensemble performs from 8 p.m. to 12 a.m. every Friday.

• Visit the open houses in the area.

• Watch the Phantoms boys basketball team take on Connetquot at noon on Saturday at .

• 16 Tons performs at , 7:30 p.m. on Saturday.

• On Saturday at 7 p.m., The Women's Club of Patchogue will be hosting a Dinner Dance at the West Lake Inn in Patchogue for their 80th anniversary. 

• A 1910 Christmas at Meadow Croft this Saturday and Sunday. Location: Bayport-Sayville border, 299 Middle Rd, Sayville. The Meadow Croft is the 1891 summer estate of John E. Roosevelt and family. The house will be decorated in a Victorian/Edwardian motif with beautiful wreaths, poinsettias and greenery magnificently reminiscent of a hundred years ago. Musical selections will be played on the original Roosevelt grand piano filling the house with the music of the season. Visit St. Nicholas, see exhibits, eat cookies and drink hot chocolate. Holiday displays and collections are on exhibit upstairs and rooms will be beautifully decorated by local flower houses, garden and community clubs. All decorations will be raffled off. Not suitable for children under 4. $5.00 adults / $3.00 seniors and children 4-12.

• This holiday season, enjoy a charming tale of adventure as you follow Clara's dream in a fairy tale ballet; Clara's Dream. The Nutcracker. Location: Patchogue Theater, 71 E Main St, Patchogue.  returns again this year to the Patchogue Theater for the Performing Arts to enchant you with this enduring Christmas favorite. For two days only, Saturday Dec. 4 and Sunday Dec. 5, follow the Sugar Plum Fairy along with her Cavalier as they journey though the land of the sweets and delight the audience. The American Dance Theatre of Long Island's classic rendition of this ballet features elegantly designed costumes and imaginatively detailed scenery, which enhances and brings Clara's Dream to life. $23 for Children and Seniors, $28 for all others.
