Weekend Happenings

Here is a list of numerous events scheduled for Friday, Saturday and Sunday right in Bayport, Blue Point and the surrounding area.

Local weekend fun and entertainment options include Sunday football at local venues, live music, a classic car show for charity, Chinese auction and high school sports playoffs. Take a look at the list below to find out all there is to do this weekend in Bayport-Blue Point.

  •  happy hour starts at 3 p.m. and ends at 7 p.m. Live music by Ed Travers band begins at 7:30 p.m.
  • Blue Restaurant's Friday happy hour features half-priced drinks beginning at 4 p.m., with a DJ starting up at 5 p.m. On Saturday at Blue, a "Top 40" DJ sets up at 9:30 p.m. for Ladies Night.
  • Enjoy the music of the Frank Anthony Jazz Ensemble at Bliss2 in Blue Point. The ensemble performs from 8 p.m. to 12 a.m. every Friday.
  • Visit the open houses in the area.
  • Saturday marks the third class in the Beginning Yoga series offered at the . Yoga provides the same benefits as any well-designed exercise program by increasing general health and stamina, reducing stress and improving those conditions brought about by a sedentary lifestyle, according to the library's newsletter. These beginner's yoga classes will provide an introduction to a healthier lifestyle. 
  • Fitness Support Gathering at  on Saturday from noon to 1 p.m. Those who attend this gathering will have the opportunity to have their weight and body fat checked, in addition to a workout, among other activities for $10.
  • Watch the Phantoms take on Babylon on Saturday at 1 p.m. for the football playoffs!
  • St. John's Philoptochos Ladies sponsor a Chinese auction at Greek Orthodox Church, , Saturday at 1 p.m.
  • Acoustically Correct performs at The Garage, 7:30 p.m. on Saturday.
  • There's Sunday football going on at the . Head down for homemade chili and organic buffalo wings, with beer specials all day.
  • The Cruisin' For St. Jude Car Show is a fun and exciting community event that benefits St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.  This event will be held at Blue Point Avenue, just one block south of Montauk Highway. So far featured cars include: 1969 396 Chevelle, '66 and '72 Corvette Sting Ray, Porsche 924, and many more. They'll be balloons for the kids and hot dogs for everyone.
