WBLI Crew Draws a Crowd at Sayville Lanes

More than 300 come out to support breast cancer fundraiser in Sayville.

October is nationally recognized as Breast Cancer Awareness month and Sayville has hosted numerous events to increase awareness and raise funds to support research of the disease.

Sayville Bowling was rocking out and kicking off the weekend as WBLI and the hosts of the morning show held their "Bowling For Boobs" fundraising event.

WBLI teamed up with Donaldson's Volkswagen/Subaru and AMF Sayville Lanes for the second annual event to benefit the 1 in 9 Long Island Breast Cancer Action Coalition's Hewlett House.  WBLI's morning crew – Dana, Randy and Drew (who was handing out 'Save The Tatas' t-shirts) –  were also on hand to help raise money for the cause.

For $30 per person, attendees received three hours of bowling, shoe rental and a special commemorative t-shirt. Plus there were plenty of raffles donated by WBLI sponsors that were drawing attention. An autographed Justin Bieber guitar definitely caught everyone's eye, but there were also tickets to Nassau Coliseum events such as Disney on Ice, Dave Matthews Band, Carrie Underwood and more.

The Sayville Lanes were filled early on in the evening with as many as 300 attendees, according to Nadine Matos, alley rally coordinator at Sayville Bowling.

Dana DiDonato, one of the hosts of the WBLI morning show, was happy to be supporting such a great cause. "This is our second year of doing this event and I just love that we can support an organization like Hewlett House," she said. "It's something so local and so close to all of us. Breast cancer is an epidemic on Long Island. Hewlett House provides so many great local resources to the Long Islanders who need it most. From free mammograms to counseling to wigs to legal advice, they really help out the community in which we live and work. It's a safe haven for anyone to go for free with any type of cancer."
