Town Board, Civic Association and Board of Ed Meetings

A list of local scheduled events for Tuesday, Nov. 16.

Meetings of the Islip Town Board, Bayport Civic Association and Board of Education all are on the local agenda for Tuesday, Nov. 16. Look for the weekly crime report later today on Patch.

  • Islip Town Board meeting begins at 1 p.m. in the town board room at Islip Town Hall, 655 Main Street, Islip.
  • The  (BCA) meets at 7 p.m. for its November meeting at . The BCA will have Bank of Smithtown Vice President Donna Lillie as the guest speaker to discuss the bank's proposed building on the corner of Bernice Drive and Montauk Highway in Bayport.  Those in attendance can discuss the latest news around town and  follow up with refreshments- raffle winner wins a door prize. 
  • Bayport-Blue Point School District's Board of Education meeting begins at 8 p.m. in the  cafeteria. Residents plan to question the board about the curriculum management audit of the school district conducted under the auspices of International Curriculum Audit Center Phi Delta Kappa International. The 149-page document was posted to the school website in October, after being presented in January 2010.
  • It's Shadow Day. The event, organized by Bayport-Blue Point's School-to-Business Partnership, gives students in their junior year the chance to get a taste of what they want to be "when they grow up." They  shadow employees of local businesses for a majority of the work day on Nov. 16. Sophomores have a Shadow Day, Feb. 2, 2011.
