SummerFest Set for this Weekend

Fu and entertainment on the agenda for the three-day event.

Sayville's annual SummerFest is set for this weekend and early weather predictions show that Mother Nature is cooperating again.

The official opening ceremonies for the weekend-long event, which is sponsored by the Sayville Chamber of Commerce, are set for 5 p.m. on Friday followed by some musical performances on Gillette Stage Park. Admission and parking are both free all weekend.

“We are very excited and expect this year to be bigger and better then ever,” said Chamber President Rich Trpicovsky. “We have a great line up of entertainment, car show, crafts, art, sports – something for everyone and all with no admission charge.”

According to Trpicovsky, the event started in 1980 and he has been involved since the start. “I have been part of it since the beginning with the help of so many others who give a lot of their time to make this happen,” he said. “Along with cooperation from the Town of Islip, the schools, SCPD, Fire and Community Ambulance Services. Also, we now have parents who attended as kids returning with their kids and parents – three generations.”

Saturday and Sunday will offer music and entertainment in over five areas throughout downtown Sayville with rides, games and vendors mixed in as well. See the attached flyer for details.
