Police: Sayville Man's License Suspended/Revoked 38 Times

Joseph Leon arrested by authorities and charged with unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle following safety inspection in Farmingville.

Suffolk County Police arrested a Sayville man Thursday morning and charged him with driving with 38 suspensions and revocations on his license.

Joseph Leon, 55, was charged with two counts of Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle and will be arraigned at a later date, police said.

Police arrested Leon during a commercial motor vehicle safety inspection at the Park and Ride on County Road 83 north of the Long Island Expressway in Farmingville.

Police said following a safety inspection by its Motor Carrier Safety Section, the truck Leon was driving was placed out of service for numerous safety violations and impounded. The truck is owned by LI Discount Tree Service Inc., according to police.

During the inspection, police said a license check was conducted and it was determined that Leon had his license revoked and/or suspended numerous times dating back to 1977.
