Sayville Library Launches Online Resouce for Patrons

Tomorrow marks the virtual ribbon-cutting of Live-brary.com.

Sept. 21 marks the launch of Live-Brary.com, an Internet site dedicated to the free online resources available to Suffolk County library cardholders. The Sayville Library will be holding demonstrations on the site from 4 – 7 p.m. on Tuesday.

"This is not a new product, but a re-branding," said Alice Lepore, director of the Sayville Library. "The five products that we offered on our website will now be offered under one tab."

Visitors to Live-brary.com will be able to enter the numbers printed under their barcode on their library card to freely explore a vast selection of entertainment including music, movies, audiobooks and e-books that are available for free download to personal computers, MP3 players and E-readers.

The local public libraries of Suffolk County came together to launch this new digital branch at Live-brary.com, providing the county's more than 970,000 patrons many of the resources that they need on one website.

"People don't realize that they can learn another language on our website," said Lepore. "There are a great deal of resources offered, but people just don't know it is there."

Patrons need a library card in good standing to access the resources on Live-Brary.com. For a demonstration, visit the Sayville Library Tuesday, Sept. 21, from 4 – 7 p.m.
