1. Democrat Steve Bellone has won the Suffolk County Executive job, having beat Republican Angie Carpenter with 56 percent of the vote in Tuesday's election. Article:

2. Incumbent Democratic supervisor Mark Lesko claimed victory Tuesday night after receiving 58.57 percent of the vote with 287 of 294 election districts reporting. Unofficial results yielded a tally of 38,409 votes for Lesko, and 27,151 votes for Republican challenger Cecile Forte. Article:

In the Fifth Town Council District, Incumbent Republican Tim Mazzei defeated Democrat Tom Cavanaugh 57.8 percent to 42.1 percent.

3. Bill Lindsay will serve a sixth and final term on the Suffolk County Legislature. and the legislature's presiding officer, has defeated Republican in the 8th Legislative District. With all districts reporting, Lindsay claimed 54 percent of the vote (7,943-6,674). Article:

The race for the Suffolk County Legislature in the 7th District is too close to call, with Democrat Rob Calarco leading Republican John Giannott by only 103 votes (6,051-5,948), according to the Suffolk County Board of Elections. Article:

4. The power balance on the Islip Town Council has shifted back to the Republicans as candidates declared victory Tuesday night. Article:

5. The race for Islip Town Supervisor remains undecided as Republican Tom Croci holds a slight lead over incumbent Democrat Phil Nolan. With all 223 election districts across the township reporting, Croci held a razor thin 419-vote lead over Nolan, 50.4 percent to 49.6 percent. Article:
