March 13: Bayport Ivy League Grad ID'ed as Train Strike Victim

The victim of last week's fatal train stike on the tracks in Bayport has been as 24-year-old Matthew Omans, of Bayport and a 2010 graduate of Cornell University.

The Bayport-Blue Point Board of Education will a special meeting and board forum at at 7:30 p.m.

The Sayville Chamber of Commerce will meet at 6:45 p.m. at Sayville Middle School to discuss how to fight a proposal from Serota Properties to build a massive mixed-use complex at the merge of Sunrise and Veterans Memorial highways in Holbrook. "This project could drain the retail business from Sayville, West Sayville, Oakdale, Patchogue, Bayport, Blue Point and Bellport," wrote Susan Montelli in an email to chamber members last week.
