Library Receives Final Installment of Construction Grant

Months after repairs on the Bayport-Blue Point Library roof are complete, elected officials present a check of the remaining grant money to library.

recently received the final installment of a New York State Construction Grant awarded to the facility for a project.

New York Assembly representatives Al Graf and Dean Murray presented the library with a check for $16,500. A nor'easter in March 2010 severely damaged the library roof, and it was later determined that the roof was not properly adhered to the building, according to Library Director Michael Firestone.

To help offset the cost of the project, the library received a state grant. The repairs were completed in early 2011.
