Where/When: , Dec. 5; 7 p.m.

Why Go: Each year, the celebrates the start of the holiday season with an outdoor tree lighting.

Where/When: Bayport-Blue Point Library, Dec. 7; 7 p.m.

Why Go: Join cookbook co-author and baker, Mary Elizabeth and her daughter, chef Nicole Roarke as they demonstrate recipes from the Country Comfort cookbooks. The mother-daugher team will highlight seasonal flavors as well as provide you with chef's tips to plan your holiday menu.

Price: $5

Where/When: , 21 Main St, West Sayville; Dec. 8, 12:30 p.m.

Why Go: Kay Porter and The Good Samaritan Hospital Foundation cordially invite you to attend Tea at 21 Main. The event is benefiting the Good Samaritan Nursing Home. Sandwiches, Scones, Petit Pastries, Raffles, 50/50, Parting Gifts. Hats suggested. Seating is limited. $35 per person. Please RSVP to 631-376-4365.

  • Toys for Tots Choreographer's Showcase Benefit

Where/When: , Dec. 9; 8 p.m.

Why Go: , founded by graduate Daniel Longo and his friend Joseph Crescimanno of Farmingville, is slated to host the first Toys for Tots Choreographer's Showcase Benefit. In lieu of a ticket purchase, attendees are asked to bring an unwrapped toy which will be given to a child in need as part of the US Marine Corps' popular holiday charity, Toys for Tots. For added spirit, two US Marines will be present at the 90-minute event.

Price: Donate one (or more) toy.

Where/When: , 86 West Ave, West Sayville; Dec. 10, 9 a.m.

Why Go: Proceeds from the walk benefit both the museum and Shelter Link, a group supporting the Islip Town Animal Shelter. For more information please visit the museum website at www.limaritime.org or call 631.HISTORY.

Price: Registration is $8 per person and is free for children ages 5 and under.

Where/When: Sayville High School; Dec. 10, 8 p.m.

Why Go: The Atlantic Wind Symphony, under the musical direction of band teacher David Schecher, presents a special Holiday Concert co-sponsored by the . Complimentary tickets are available at the Village Gift Shop, Stadtmuller Jewelers, Sayville General Store, Chase Bank and the Sayville Antiques and Design Center.

Price: Tickets are $10 at door. Comp tickets available beforehand at the aforementioned locations.

Where/When: , 257 Middle Rd, Sayville; Dec. 11, 4 p.m.

Why Go: An afternoon of Christmas lessons and carols at St. Ann's right on Middle Rd. right past the Bayport/Sayville border.
