Happy 123rd Birthday Priscilla

LIMM holds celebration with crafts, face painting, pirates and free admission.

The celebrated the 123rd anniversary of their recently with free admission, events and activities.

Children were invited to come down to the museum and take part in the celebration of the historic ship by coloring a picture of Priscilla. All the drawings will be combined into one large mosaic display, or birthday card, to pay homage to Priscilla. The completed project will be exhibited in the museum's gallery.

“This is the second year we are holding a birthday celebration for Priscilla,” said Kathleen Prokesch, director of special events for the museum. “This is really the start of the spring season for us at the museum. We start our public sailing next month, so we are signing people up for that as well this weekend.”

“This year we added the art portion for the kids to the event,” Prokesch added. “All these drawings they create will be turned into a mosaic and serve as a big, huge birthday card for Priscilla that we will then display in the museum.”

Kids were also able to decorate their own clamshells to take home and the museum buildings were open to all free of charge. There was face painting and a band of pirates roaming the property and shooting off guns from the Ye Pirate Brotherhood.

Free cupcakes were handed out to all the children after they completed their artwork. There were plenty of other options for snacking from French fries and corn dogs to clam chowder, burgers and chicken fingers, it was a beautiful day to take advantage of all the museum has to offer.
