Good News: Lindy Teachers, Nurses Revive High School Student Using CPR

Lindy Teachers, Nurses Revive High School Student Using CPR

Two teachers and two nurses at Lindenhurst High School were credited with helping to revive a senior student that collapsed at the school last week.

Teachers Richard Rogers and Diane Pollard were honored during the Lindenhurst Board of Education meeting on Wednesday evening at the McKenna Administration Building for their heroism in bringing the student, who was not breathing, back.

Sayville Students Honored for Character, Integrity

Twenty Sayville High School students were recognized for good character and integrity at the Spring Breakfast of Champions ceremony which included guests from Sayville administrators, faculty, staff, and relatives in the celebration. 

These students were singled out for consistently demonstrating qualities of kindness, motivation, compassion, enthusiasm, diligence, and good citizenship beyond the classroom or athletic field or who achieved their personal best by striving to overcome major obstacles. 

Lady Panthers Softball Win Long Island Championship

Make it three seasons in a row with at least one Long Island Championship team at Babylon High School – the Lady Panthers took home the title with a 7-6 win over Nassau County champion East Rockaway to win the Class B title at St. Joseph's College on Tuesday.

Eighth grader Gwen Donaldson drove in the tying run in the bottom of the seventh with a one-out triple and was followed up by Miranda Richards, who lined a single that drove in Donaldson, giving Babylon the 7-6 walk-off win, according to Newsday.

4 West Islip Residents Named 'Women of Distinction'

Four West Islip residents have been recognized as "Women of Distinction" by Assemblyman Joseph Saladino. 

Margaret Campise, Angie Carpenter, Patty Vorilas and Regina Jacoby were among seven women to receive the honor during a ceremony at West Islip Library. 

"These women are outstanding examples for young women to follow, and I highly value their hard work in our community,” Saladino said in a statement.
