Get Out! Nutcracker, Light Show, Dutch Estate

Bayport-Blue Point events Dec. 2-4 are all about the holidays.

Bayport-Blue Point rings in the 2011 holiday season this weekend with a variety of local events even Scrooge couldn't resist.

in Bayport is once again sparkling with holiday spirit Dec. 1-30 for the Girl Scouts of Suffolk County's eighth .

The Town of Brookhaven will host its annual Christmas Tree Lighting Friday, Dec. 2 at Town Hall in Farmingville. Show starts at 6 p.m. with the lighting taking place at 7 p.m. The town is asking guests to bring a new, unwrapped child’s toy for the INTERFACE Program.

Bayport's own will take audiences on a journey through a Christmas-themed fantasyland Dec. 3-4 at the company's eleventh annual performance of Clara's Dream: The Nutcracker. Patchogue Theater for the Performing Arts, 71 E Main St, Patchogue. Showtimes: Saturday, Dec. 3, 2 p.m. & 7 p.m.; Sunday, Dec. 4 at 1 p.m. & 6 p.m.

Head on over to Dec. 3 at 3 p.m. for their Annual Tree Lighting. Santa arrives with his elves at 3 p.m., then he'll pose for photos and listen to Christmas wishes. At 5:30 p.m. Santa and his elves head outdoors to light the Christmas tree. 

Local businesses donated goods and provided decorations for the Bayport Heritage Association's Dutch Christmas at Meadow Croft, the 1891 estate of John E. Roosevelt and family. Keeping in touch with the Roosevelts' Dutch ancestry, the house will be decorated in a Victorian/Edwardian motif with beautiful wreaths, poinsettias and greenery magnificently reminiscent of a 100 years ago and tied in with a Dutch flavor. Meadow Croft Estate is located at 299 Middle Road at Brown’s River on the Bayport-Sayville border. Pay $5 for adults, $3 for seniors and children ages 4-12. Dec. 3, 4; noon-4 p.m.
