Islip Town Hall Bomb Threat A Hoax

The Wednesday morning incident also included County Department of Social Services building in Hauppauge.

Islip Town Hall was evacuated this morning following a bomb threat that said an explosive device would detonate at 11 a.m.

Following a search by Suffolk County Police, Town Hall was reopened before 12 p.m. A source inside Town Hall said the threat was initially received by Suffolk County, which then alerted Town officials. All calls to the Town, however, were referred to County officials, who were not immediately available for comment.

Throughout the morning, the stepped up police presence at Town Hall in Islip hamlet was evident.

The threat to Town Hall was received through a 911 call at 9:50 made by a male and was part of a larger threat that also included the County’s Department of Social Services building in Hauppauge.

The motivation behind the bomb threats or if police have any leads as to who made the threats were not immediately known.
