Bayport Resident Named VP Nursing, Chief Nursing Officer at Huntington Hospital

Susan Knoepffler, RN, MPH brings 30 years of experience to Huntington.

Bayport resident Susan Knoepffler, RN, MPH, has been named Vice President – Nursing and Chief Nursing Officer at Huntington Hospital.

Knoepffler joins Huntington from Long Island Jewish Medical Center, where she served as Senior Administrative Director of the Emergency Department. Throughout a career 30-year career, Knoepffler has held various positions, beginning as a staff nurse in the neonatal intensive care unit at North Shore University Hospital. Career highlights include leadership roles as Administrative Supervisor and Nursing Care Coordinator at St. Francis Hospital before joining LIJ in 2008.

Knoepffler earned a bachelor of science in nursing from the University of Delaware, and a master’s in public health administration from Long Island University – CW Post. She is a certified nurse executive and is a member of the American Organization of Nurse Executives.

In her new role, Knoepffler is committed to building relationships with the nursing staff, physicians, other hospital employees, and the community. Her top priorities for Huntington Hospital are to enhance the patient experience, work toward achieving Magnet re-designation, and focus on employee engagement.

In her free time she enjoys the outdoors, especially gardening, boating and golf. She is active in her church and also enjoys spending time with family and friends.
