B-BP Residents Vote in Favor of Library Budget

Spending plan passes by 63 votes on Wednesday.

Local residents demonstrated their support for by voting in favor of the library's proposed 2011-'12 budget, 193 to 130.

The budget, which totals to $2,164,226.98. will take effect on July 1, 2011. With $13,000 factored into the budget for facility improvements, the budget represents an overall increase of $39,000 from the previous year.

Long-time Blue Point resident MaryEllen Adams was elected to serve on the Bayport-Blue Point Library board of trustees commencing July 1, 2011, through June 30, 2016.  Adams replaces board of trustees member Diane Handy who will conclude her term on June 30, 2011.

The Bayport-Blue Point board of trustees, along with the Library director, thanked the community for voting on the budget. “We greatly look forward to serving our library patrons during the coming years,” stated Mike Firestone, Bayport-Blue Point Library director.
