Our Memorial Day Parade

Honor our servicemen - past and present.

In spite of the rain shower at the beginning of the parade, we were proud to honor our veterans, soldiers, firemen, ambulance company and enthusiastic children/parents who turned out to march down Main Street. Although the crowd was very light, considering the usual numbers, we clapped for each group and then attended the service at Sparrow Park. Can you believe that seven Sayville servicemen from the Korean and Viet Nam wars were never recognized on our town memorial?  Thanks to Chris Bodkin and a number of other people, these brave Sayville sons finally got the recognition they deserved. And to those of you who didn't attend today because the weather wasn't perfect, I remind you that soldiers don't quit defending us when it rains. Next year, decide to participate- rain or shine- and be especially proud that we live in a country where freedom is our greatest treasure. Don't ever take it for granted.  God Bless America:)
