Who's Who in Sayville

A conversation with Rosa Prestia Cascardo, Esq.

What's your Sayville connection? My Sayville connection is to the schools. When our children were young we lived in Lindenhurst and attended Copiague Schools at which we had a wonderfully successful time. When my oldest was ready for middle school, however, we wanted something more for our children. I had heard about the great reputation of Sayville schools and thought that it would be a perfect place to raise our children. We were not disappointed in making the move.

What do you love most about Sayville?  I love that Sayville has a very unique mix of the historic small town ambience with a cosmopolitan, NYC chic.  You can enjoy wine tasting or a Starbucks and within 50 feet go and purchase handmade crafts. Nothing beats the contrasting variety within a relatively small area.

Tell the readers a little bit about your business in Sayville. I am a real estate attorney and I have been practicing for 24 years. Though I practiced 10 years in NYC firms, my last 14 years have been spent practicing from home so that I could raise my children. My practice is unique in that somewhat like Sayville, it is a unique mix of NYC and Long Island. Much of my practice revolves around Manhattan and the outer boroughs but I also do a substantial amount of work with Nassau, Suffolk and Westchester properties. My practice may be located in Sayville, but my work spans far beyond its borders.

In 10 years Sayville will be… Not much different than it has been in the past. Most of the residents have been here for generations and their offspring are striving to continue the tradition. I have come to find than once you become a Sayvillian, you don’t leave voluntarily. The stores in town may change, but the loyalty and tradition of the town remain with its citizens and they don’t seem to change much.
