UPDATE: Damage at B-BP Chamber Park at Nicolls Road
Signs demolished, plants and planter decimated.
Patch initially reported earlier that vandals seemingly struck the chamber park area at the end of Nicolls Road, decimating signs, destroying plants and even tearing apart the white brick planter structure. But according to Suffolk Police, the damage is the result of a DWI accident last week. Police say Robert Gruber, 52, of Lindenhurst, was arrested and charged with a DWI at approximately 11:15 p.m. when he drove his 2004 Ford van into the park on May 17.
