The Hunt for the Perfect Christmas Tree

Are you looking to find the perfect Christmas tree? Or are you just looking for the best bang for your buck? Here is the inside scoop on the Christmas tree stands in the area.

Time is running out! Christmas would not be complete without a tree and there are only 11 days until Christmas. So whether you decide to scout the farms out east or scour the nearest tree stands, the hunt for the perfect tree is a top priority for the holiday.  Here's a look at the local places you can buy real trees and outdoor holiday accessories:

Bayport Flower Houses- 940 Montauk Highway, Bayport

  • had a decent selection of Fraser and Canaan fir trees. However, with less than two weeks to Christmas, most of the trees are gone. The remaining trees are shorter, around 5' 7" tall, but pleasantly plump and perfectly shaped. If you are looking for a small tree, this is your place. A tree of this size is on the pricey side at $43.99. Table -top trees are around $29.99. As for other decorations, you can save 50 percent on artificial trees, wreaths and garlands in the store.

St. Ann's Episcopal Church- 397 Middle Road, Bayport

  •  St. Ann's had the best selection of Douglas and Fraser fir trees, but the supply is also diminishing. The prices are very reasonable, with a table-top tree for $25 and a 5'6" tree for $35. Prices increase $10 with each foot. If you are looking for a large tree around seven to eight feet, be prepared to pay $60. The service is great! They are more than willing to cut the tree stump and trim branches before loading it onto your car.

Daisy Gardens- Gillette Avenue, Bayport (on the left after )

  • has the most freshly cut trees in town. Though they only sell Fraser firs, the trees have strong branches and nice shapes. Fraser's don't shed their needles as much as other fir trees, making them the easiest to clean up after. Most of the trees are on the larger side, being nearly seven to eight feet tall. Daisy Gardens is also the most expensive Christmas tree retailer in town. Prices range from $20 to $125. A seven to eight foot tall tree would set you back $78. This flower house also has a wide selection of poinsettias and holiday decorations.
